YMCA Unheard Homeless

YMCA UNHEARD PROJECT

Everyday in Seattle, commuters pass by 1,500 young adults that don’t have a home. We walk right past them, unaware of the struggles they are going through. We need a wake up call. It’s time we listen to their stories. There’s no better way to do that then through the power of music.

I concepted this passion project while walking through the streets of Seattle, on a rainy winter day. After taking it to VML, we reached out to the YMCA to make this idea a reality.

CREATIVE IDEA

Homeless youth need advocates in Seattle. To make sure our teens get the attention they need, let’s give them a more powerful, local voice to tell their story. We’ll document a homeless youth’s story and ask a local musician to turn the story into a song, and then release it to the public on local radio stations in the Seattle area. Each song will collect donations through iTunes downloads, and we’ll document the full story behind each song online.

Role: I concepted and pitched the idea to YMCA. VML Seattle executed this idea with other internal creatives.
